Port of Antwerp-Bruges, more than the sum of two ports

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is Europe’s second-largest port. With connections to over 800 destinations around the globe, it links the European continent to the world – and vice versa – smoothly and effectively.  

To maximize its efficiency and sustainability, new technological developments are being introduced continuously at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges. It serves as a testing ground for numerous innovations that enable a greener, smarter and more digital world: from the use of drones, artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor-driven risk and quality management to the introduction of autonomous vessels and a variety of hydrogen-powered applications: In this regard, the port works closely with Flanders’ universities and research centers, while striving for full climate neutrality by 2050. 

With over 40 square kilometers of chemical industry housing most of the world’s top 10 chemical companies, the port area in Antwerp is by far the largest chemical cluster in Europe. It also has Europe’s biggest storage capacity for the petrochemical industry.

The port area in Zeebrugge is one of the world’s most prominent vehicle-handling hubs. It’s also an important center of excellence for the transport of liquefied natural gas, while specializing in handling fresh and frozen foodstuffs as well.
