To make health and care services as accessible as possible, healthcare in Belgium and its northern Flanders is funded through a state-run mandatory insurance framework, with premiums automatically deducted from an individual’s salary. To join an insurance fund, you need written confirmation from your employer that you work and live in Belgium.
