Nivea parent firm acquires microbiome expert from Flanders
Acne expertise
With the acquisition, Beiersdorf aims to strengthen its expertise in the treatment of acne. As a relatively young company in which Beiersdorf already invested back in 2018, S-Biomedic will continue to function as a separate entity and complement Beiersdorf’s research activities.
Microbiome research
S-Biomedic conducts research on the skin’s microbiome: i.e., the variety of microorganisms than can be found on the skin. As such, the young innovative company develops active ingredients for cosmetic products, using live skin bacteria.
What’s more, S-Biomedic is based at the JLABS incubator – under the wings of pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson – in Beerse (Flanders).
