German automation leader KUKA builds new HQ in Flanders
Robots, cobots and more
KUKA is best known for developing industrial robots and other intelligent automation solutions. Cobots, software solutions and linear tracks are also part of the company’s portfolio. Initially, KUKA was mainly active in the automotive industry, working for the production lines of BMW, Mercedes and Audi, among other brands.
In the meantime, KUKA has also established itself in other sectors such as e-commerce, electronics, industrial applications, consumer goods and healthcare.
Benelux HQ
The new KUKA location will be the head office for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (Benelux). It will house sales, administration and a training center with a lab and test facility. About 30 people will be working at the new head office. Construction works will start in early 2023 and take about a year to be completed.
According to mayor Alain Yzermans, KUKA chose to invest in Houthalen-Oost because of the accessibility, the connection to the road network and the green and sustainable character of the area. “We are pleased that the company sees our E-park as a great opportunity,” says Yzermans. “The project is an added value for our industrial park.”
