A record number of 20 companies and organizations from Belgium – including 8 from the country’s northern region of Flanders – will be participating in the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco (US) from 20 to 24 March 2023. Flanders’ Minister of Media, Benjamin Dalle, will also be joining the leading trade fair for game developers, to promote a tax shelter for the gaming industry.

Flanders' gaming industry represented

The gaming sector has experienced a major boom in recent years, not in the least in Flanders, Belgium’s northern region. Flanders’ thriving and innovative gaming industry will be represented at GDC 2023 as part of a dedicated booth.

There, visitors will be able to discover the exciting work and/or support services of:

  • Flanders Game Hub, a government-backed incubator and accelerator as well as a co-creation and learning community for game developers,
  • AppTweak, which provides companies with actionable insights to enhance their apps and games,
  • Banzai Studios, which specializes in game-based learning,
  • Crazy Games, a free online games portal,
  • Cybernetic Walrus, known for both their games and game tech services,
  • DAE Studios, a game incubator and accelerator,
  • Oisoi Studio, a virtual reality game developer,
  • Smart Games, which develops educational multi-level logic games.

Tax shelter support

Flanders’ Minister of Media Benjamin Dalle will also be present at the game conference – as part of a working visit to Silicon Valley. Among other things, he will take the opportunity to promote the new tax shelter system available for the gaming industry in Flanders, created with the support of Flanders’ gaming federation FLEGA.
